As an Abingdon, Va., native and a physician who has practiced medicine in his hometown for more than three decades, James D. Moore, Jr., could tell many stories. As a man who has shared in the joy of delivering the grandchildren of some of his first patients, Dr. Moore has had the rare privilege of sharing some of life’s most tender moments.
Board certified by the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Dr. Moore received a bachelor of science from Florida Presbyterian College, St. Petersburg, Fla. He received his doctorate of medicine from the Medical College of Virginia, Richmond, where he also completed his obstetric & gynecology post-graduate training.
Focusing his practice on gynecological medicine, Dr. Moore’s special interests include menopause and preventative medicine.
He and his wife, Judith, are the proud parents of two adult children: Jimmy and Heather. A shared passion in their lives is their grandson, Tyler.
Dr. Moore has been active in the Historic Fairview Log Homestead Restoration/Preservation Project. Additionally, he greatly enjoys contemporary glass art and agriculture.
